Team story

[p]On 12th of November last year, I lost my father to Pick's disease, a rare form of early onset Dementia. He was just 67 years of age.[/p][p]I have two amazing brothers, Dale and Ross and we sadly lost our mom to cancer when we were just children. Our dad brought us up single handedly since then and we became a really close little team of four and we loved our dad more than anything. In 2008 dad was diagnosed with Pick’s disease at the age of 57. We cared for him for as long as we could until he needed to go into a home. When he passed away last week a huge hole was left in our lives.[/p][p]We are really lucky he was well enough to attend both Dale and Ross’ wedding and he has three beautiful grand-children which we know is all he ever wanted. But he should have been around for longer to enjoy his family. Pick's disease robbed him and us of the opportunity for this to happen. Please help us to help others who are also going through the tough journey we have been through.[/p][p]Alex and I have been bestfriends for over 25 years. Early this year, before Dad passed away, we decided we wanted to enter the London Marathon 2019 to raise money for the National Brain Appeal, to help fund further their support into Pick's disease and other rare forms of Dementia like it. The day that Dad passed away, I found out I had got a charity place. It was obviously meant to be. At the end of last week Alex was given the chance to run alongside me. We have previously completed several half marathons and a muddy obstacle race. But never have we completed a challenge as epic as the London Marathon. We aren't atheletes. In fact the idea of pounding 26.2 miles around London is actually quite terrifying. But we will complete it. And with your help and sponsorship we can help raise vital funds for The National Brain Appeal in the hope that one day, not too far from now, another family won't lose their dad like I have.[/p]
