Team story

[p] Giving children a sporting chance![/p][p] Thank you for visiting the Team SEPIA 2018 sponsor page. We hope you are here because you want to give us your support as we take on the challenge of running 13.1 miles in the first ever BIG HALF in London. Our aim is raise in excess of £500 in order to help SEPIA buy sports equipment for the New Tafo Basic School (NTBS) in the Eastern region of Ghana. In November 2017, the school office was broke into and all of their sports equipment was stolen. Sport is very popular in Ghana, as it is in the UK, and over the past 5 years SEPIA has worked with the staff at NTBS to develop the range of activities being offered to encourage greater involvement of both boys and girls, (see pictures below). As a result the number on roll has gone up, as the school gains a sporting reputation, and the attendance level has improved. Whilst the value of a good education is widely recognised in New Tafo, families with several children will often keep at least one at home, usually a girl, to help with chores or to work in the local market. SEPIA hopes that by raising the school profile within the community families will be proud to send their children in every day and, in return, their children will be able to gain a full education which will increase their chances of finding employment later in life. [/p][p]So, even with the dark and wet training runs, we think running 13.1 miles is a fairly small price to pay for such a return and we hope that you are also keen to support us, through your sponsorship, so that together we can help SEPIA and NTBS achieve their goal of giving every child a sporting chance.[/p][p] Thanks from Team SEPIA 2018 - (Rich Andrews, Aaron Clarke, Lizzie Clarke, Michael Clarke & Lewis Desforges) [/p][p] [/p]
