My story

[p]In 2018 Asafo Primary School in the eastern region of Ghana was hit by a tropical storm. It ripped the roof from a three classroom block and severely damaged the walls and interior. Currently the children are being educated in the school grounds in make shift outdoor classrooms, but as the wet season approaches the need for proper, safe classrooms is becoming vital. Michael, Helen and Aaron Clarke, who run the charity SEPIA, have visited the school on several occasions and have been working with the staff to improve the facilities for the children. Michael is now in discussion with the Head teacher, Mr Obiri, and a plan is coming together to rebuild the classrooms as soon as possible. Team SEPIA 2019 is hoping to raise the funds required to make this happen; so to do this the team, Aaron and Michael Clarke, Steve and Kerry Allington, Lewis Desforges and Calum Sheppard, will run the Big Half in London on March 10th. Running 13.1 miles is a tough ask for anyone but Team SEPIA have decided to run it wearing brightly coloured Ghanaian clothes to make sure they get noticed and hopefully sponsored. It is rumoured that Calum and Lewis may be seen wearing long flowing dresses! SEPIA needs £1000 to replace the roof to provide shelter from the oncoming rains and buy the concrete blocks needed to replace the damaged walls. In late March Michael and Helen will be returning to Asafo and hope to speak with the local education authority about obtaining new furniture. Together we can get this done and ensure the children have a safe and sound place to learn. Please sponsor the Team SEPIA runners to help us achieve this. Thank you :)[/p]
