Team story

[p]Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! We are George and Ben, a.k.a. 'The Hairy Handlebars', and we are are proudly raising funds for The Movember Foundation and The Ian Williams Foundation by cycling from London to Tokyo in 2019. [/p][p]* The Movember Foundation is the only global charity focused solely on men’s health. They raise funds that deliver innovative, breakthrough research and support programmes to enable men to live happier, healthier and longer lives. Men are dying 6 years younger than women on average, largely due to preventable causes. Perhaps most startling of all is that a man takes his own life EVERY MINUTE. This is unacceptable and we want to support Movember in their efforts to reduce this stat.[/p][p]* 10% of donations will go to The Ian Williams Foundation which has been set up in memory of a great friend of ours who passed away suddenly in February 2018. The foundation will focus upon athlete well-being, specifically rugby players, with regards to cardiac screening and mental health support. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Leaving in March, we aim to reach Tokyo by October, and hope to immerse ourselves in as much of the Rugby World Cup as possible upon arrival, including enjoying a well earned beer or two! The trip will see us (and our Mos) ride over 6000 miles across the largest landmass on earth and pass through over 20 countries along the way. [/p][p]Neither of us have experienced anything of this magnitude before, nor can we claim to be avid cyclists. While we can't wait to start pedalling, we will be relying on your kind support and donations to keep us motivated on the road eastwards! So please donate as much as you can afford to help stop men dying too young. Thank you![/p][p]Please visit www.thehairyhandlebars.co.uk or follow our instagram @thehairyhandlebars to follow the trip[/p][p][br][/p]
