Team story

[p]First things first, let me introduce you to the team.[/p][p]Georgiana Oana, Angie Berry, Samantha Butler, Jade Aymer, Katie Cooney, Mark Gale, Joseph Palmer, Daniel Rendall and Richard Baker.[/p][p]We are all train drivers from the London Overground depot at New Cross Gate who are going to attempt to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours to raise money for the Whitechapel Mission. We will climb each peak in turn, and will then drive from the foot of one mountain to the next. [/p][p]The three peaks are:[/p][p]Ben Nevis - (1,345 m or 4,413 ft), the highest mountain in Scotland[/p][p]Scafell Pike - (978 m or 3,209 ft), the highest mountain in England[/p][p]Snowdon / [i]Yr Wyddfa[/i] (1,085 m or 3,560 ft), the highest mountain in Wales[/p][p]The total distance walked is estimated at 42 kilometres (26 mi) or 44 km (27 mi), with a total ascent of 9,800 feet (3,000 m).[/p][p]Our Chosen Charity[/p][p]Situated on the East London Line, the Whitechapel Mission have been helping the homeless since 1876, meeting the specific needs of each man and woman who walks through their doors. [/p][p]They offer: hot breakfasts and lunch, showers, clothing, hairdressing, optician, medical care, dentistry, befriending and advising on: night shelters, hostels, benefits, identification documents, form filling, debt counseling, entitlements, finding appropriate help.[/p][p]The Trustees of the Whitechapel Mission are proud to confirm they operate on a unique 100% donations policy.
