Team story

[p]“We believe that young people deserve the chance to transform or enrich their lives through music, whatever their background or their personal circumstances”[/p][p]The Rhythm Studio Foundation (RSF) was founded in 2011. Our charity works with schools, hospitals and community groups to provide opportunities to economically underprivileged and socially disadvantaged young people who have limited access to music activities. [/p][p]£50 could pay for four one-to-one lessons for a child on the RSF Scholarship scheme on their chosen instrument. The Rhythm Studio Foundation Scholarship is an annual award aimed at talented and passionate 11 to 18 year-old musicians in need of financial support to help reach their full potential. The scholarships are awarded on a means-tested basis, contributing from 50%-100% of fees.[/p][p]£150 could fund a primary school Rock & Pop music workshop for 30 pupils, allowing state primary school children to experience the excitement of collaborative music making, whether as part of a rock & roll band, a drumming or vocal group set up or using creative music technology. We currently work with 6 local primary schools.[/p][p]£250 could fund whole day of hospital workshops with partners at Chelsea & Westminster Health Charity and Imperial College Healthcare Charity. Fortnightly music workshops for children on paediatric wards, develop a community feeling on the wards and a happy environment for young patients and their parents. Each year, we deliver workshops to over 600 children, many of whom require one-to-one sessions. [/p][p]The Rhythm Studio Foundation is located in the northern tip of the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, bordering Brent and Westminster. The area is culturally and ethnically diverse and there are multiple indicators of economic and social deprivation, particularly in the immediate catchment area. Many of the young people live on the estates in North Kensington and English is not their first language.
