[p]All my life I have had a genetic kidney disorder called Alports Syndrone. This resulted in my kidneys failing and I had to go on kidney dialysis for over 6 years which was a real low point in my life as there were lots of issues which impacted on my close family. [/p][p]Fortunately for me in April 2003 I got the telephone call I prayed for and I was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham to receive a transplant. This life changing event literally saved my life as I had been running into significant problems.[/p][p]Since then I have led a blessed life and the donor has allowed me to watch my children grow and flourish and its also enabled me to start my own business and to travel again. Just doing the normal things that we all take for-granted has been amazing.[/p][p]During this journey I have received incredible treatment from the doctors and nurses at the renal department at the Royal Stoke. I just felt its time to pay a little back to help fund the research that will help future kidney patients.[/p][p]So I'm in for the London Marathon and the target is to get around the course to the finish in whatever time it takes. I desperately want to get around the course and not let anyone down and hope that you will support me in any way you feel you can.[/p][p][br][/p]
