My story

[p]I'm taking on the 2020 London Marathon and raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support. I've chosen to run for them because cancer affects so many people in all our lives and, closer to me, because my dad, Alfred Munday, died of oesophageal cancer 20 years ago. Macmillan nurses helped care for him through his final weeks, giving our family vital support and allowing my dad his final wish, to die at home with his family around him. [/p][p]So, despite turning 60 in January (yes, really, I was 60!), I have downloaded the training plan and I'm out on the road 3 times a week, come rain or shine! The London Marathon has always been one of my personal ambitions; I'm delighted that Macmillan have given me this opportunity to run it.[/p][p]I’m lacing up my running shoes and running London 2020 to raise funds to help Macmillan support today's cancer sufferers and their families with the kind of support they gave us, so they’re able to live life as fully as they can. In 2018 Macmillan made a difference to the lives of 1.9 million people (!). By 2030, the number of people living with cancer is expected to rise to 4 million, so your donations are always vital to their continued work.[/p][p]Follow the highs and lows of my progress towards London on my blog:[/p][p]https://www.realbuzz.com/blogs/NorthamptonTim/tims-running-london-2020/[/p][p]Training distance to date:[/p][p]At the end of February 2020: 942 km / 585 miles[/p][p]At the end of January 2020: 765 km / 476 miles[/p][p]At the end of December 2019: 626 km / 389 miles[/p][p]At the end of November 2019: 494 km / 307 miles[/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and your donations will be quickly processed and passed directly to Macmillan. Please gift-aid your donation if you're a UK tax payer![/p][p]Please sponsor me and help this wonderful charity while keeping me motivated. Any amount is greatly appreciated![/p][p]Thank you for your donations.[/p][p]Tim[/p]
