Team story

[p]To Paris for Porridge[/p][p][br][/p][p]Last year we lost our wonderful friend Mike (Porridge, PoPo, Pudding) following a freak accident in which he sustained a serious spinal injury. Whilst in hospital contemplating a severely compromised life, he succumbed to complications from his injury and, devastatingly, passed away.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Full of life, energy, determination, humour and an astounding general knowledge, Mike excelled as a school teacher, son, brother and friend. He was an inspiration. Relentlessly positive and utterly dedicated to those he loved, he was never happier than when he was on his bike, in the mountains undertaking feats of physical endurance to raise money for charitable causes close to his heart. His tragic and premature death has left a massive hole in our lives.[/p][p][br][/p][p]To celebrate his life and honour his memory in a way he'd approve of, we are undertaking a comparatively modest challenge of our own - in Paris, a city where Mike lived for a year and made some amazing memories.[/p][p][br][/p][p]OUR CHALLENGE[/p][p]Starting on 5th April 2018, Liz, Simon, Adam, Jacob, Ellie, James, Lee, Camille, Mark, James and Catriona will attempt to cycle from London to Paris.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Then on the 8th April, Ben, Tom, Rich, Anthony, Josh and Tori will attempt to run the Paris marathon.[/p][p][br][/p][p]THE CAUSE[/p][p]We will be raising money for Aspire. Aspire is a national charity providing practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury; it can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 40,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK so that they can lead fulfilled and independent lives in their homes, with their families, in work places and in leisure time.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you on behalf of all Mike’s friends and family for your kind support.[/p]
