My story

[p]Hello all and thank you for visiting my page! [/p][p]On the 3rd October I have the privilege of running the London Marathon with my Dad and older brother. More excitingly, this provides an opportunity to raise money for the 156 children of Mwangaza primary school, Kenya who are currently without school shoes! [/p][p]In Kenya, owning school shoes is a strict uniform requirement in order to attend school. Unfortunately, in the area surrounding Mwangaza primary school, there are currently 156 pupils who’s families are unable to buy their school shoes. The high rate of orphans and single-parent families in the area has added to this problem. This makes it very difficult for some children to attend school and receive an education so vital to their futures. Equally, the condition of the roads in the Mwangaza region are harsh, making foot injuries common. Pictures of the school, some of the pupils and of the kind of shoes your donations would be helping purchase can be seen below as you scroll down the page![/p][p]My goal is to raise £1960 in order to supply every child with a new pair of good quality shoes. This comes out to just £12.60 per pupil! Any donations would be greatly appreciated and I’m so grateful for all the support I’ve already received. [/p][p]The amazing charity running this operation is called Happy Feet founded and headed-up by Sharon Cameron Betha. [/p][p]Happy Feet is a charity that seeks to provide new school shoes to the many children across the world that suffer from extreme poverty. With a special focus on Africa, Sharon believes that supplying children with school shoes is about more than meeting a physical need, it also aims to clothe the children in a sense of worth and value. [/p][p]This particular project came about as a result of teaming up with Josh Rex of Gospel Fire International. Josh used to be a member of my church in Maidstone and now works as a missionary in Kenya. He got in touch with Sharon to see if anything could be done to help these children and it so happened that the marathon provided the perfect opportunity to raise some money![/p][p]If you are interested in seeing any more of the work done by Sharon or Josh, links to Happy Feet and GFI can be found below. Track some of the Strava progress below if you’re interested to see how we are getting on. [/p][p]Bring on the 3rd of October![/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
