My story

[p]WE DID IT...A early 6am start at a chilly BrandsHatch. 12 Hours seemed fairly easy if being shared out to 8 riders! Well after we lost our captain Toby with a prolapsed Disk we were suddenly down to 7! That will be fine just a few extra laps each we thought. Fine for the first 6 hours. Then the fatigue starts to sneak in! However what a team we were. The camaraderie and a change of stragey helped keep us focused. Two laps each as quick as our legs and lungs would carry us. 14th out of 28 teams! Not bad when you think a few of us had only been on moving bikes for two weeks, Tony collected his eBay purchase the night beforehand! We all agreed that the day was probably one of THE hardest challenges we had ever taken on. However we all felt humble how hard the challenge to fight cancer and stay positive must be. Thank you so much for all your donations. We have very nearly hit our target, so please please if you still wish to donate do. Lets hope that the money raised can help fight this terrible illness that affects so many of our friends and family.[/p][p]Thank you again Team Ride45[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p] We have chosen two charities close to the hearts of some of our 8 strong Ride45 cycle team. Toby, Jon, Colin, Adrian, Andrew, Anthony, Richard and Rob.[/p][p]#1 Bone Cancer Research Trust (Liberty's Legacy)[/p][p]All 8 of us are local and wanted to ride for a charity that touched the hearts of not just us but friends, colleagues and family. We all know of someone who has been taken far too early from the world. Please read Liberty's journey.[/p][p]Liberty was diagnosed with Ewing sarcoma of her tibia, one of the rarer but very aggressive forms of primary bone cancer, on her 13th birthday in September 2016.[/p][p]From a very young age Liberty was sports mad, with a particular passion for swimming, dance (especially tap), netball, athletics, golf and football and she was an avid QPR supporter, someone has to be! Remarkably her pain never stopped or slowed down her great love of sport and the Consultants were amazed she was still walking, let alone participating in over 10 hours of swimming, dance and school sports each week![/p][p]Liberty gained her wings on October 11th 2017, just 2 weeks after her 14th birthday, a day that she was so determined to make. She is so very deeply missed, but she taught those around her so much during her 13 month battle with her courage, bravery, dignity, humour and thoughtfulness and she continues to inspire and touch people's hearts every single day.[/p][p]Please please donate to help find a cure for this terrible type of cancer XX[/p][p]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDMO71vT2AQ[/p][p]#2 Mesothelioma.uk.com[/p][p]In Memory of Grenville George. He lived and worked in Chalfont St.Peter and Gerrards Cross running Bates Removals for over 40 years. Father in law to Jon one of our team. A cruel disease that took him away from his family on the 7th October at the age of 73. Sadly missed, fantastic husband, dad & granddad. Please read below to see what any donation can help to support.[/p][p]Mesothelioma UK is a national specialist resource centre, specifically for the asbestos-related cancer, mesothelioma. The charity is dedicated to providing specialist mesothelioma information, support and education, and to improving care and treatment for all UK mesothelioma patients and their carers.[/p][p]The charity integrates into NHS front line services to ensure specialist mesothelioma nursing is available at the point of need. This is achieved through a growing network of specialist mesothelioma nurses, regionally based in NHS hospitals but funded by Mesothelioma UK.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
