My story
[p]It's been over two years since I sat on a Watt Bike for 24 Hours, it's time to do something else and this time I may well have bitten off more than I can chew....[/p][p]Over the past couple of years, much has happened including my Mum getting lung cancer which she'll not ever be able to get rid of and my old mate Doddie Weir having been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. More recently former Rugby League great Rob Burrow who played for Leeds Rhinos has been diagnosed with MND. Something needs to be done to try and find a cure for both cancer and MND - surely in this day and age there's something? Both are horrible to deal with. Cancer is curable in many cases. MND isn't. I want to do my bit to help raise funds for cancer and MND so I came up with this.....[/p][p]I have decided to run the London Loop which is a pathway that runs all the way around London, inside the M25. It's 150 miles long or 240 kilometres for those of you not knowing that 150 is a long way! I have broken the run down as I clearly don't have the capability of doing it all in one go. I am basically going to run a marathon, each day, for 6 days. Given that as of today, the 13th January, I have only run a half marathon and that was two days ago, I might be up against it. Plus my legs are about an inch long which means double the work and I'm still weighing similar to what I did during my playing days, above 93kg.[/p][p]I have set a target of £10,000 to raise for this trip but I am hoping your generosity will get me past that, way past that. I am going to split the funds between the Teenage Cancer Trust and My Name'5 Doddie Foundation from where half of those funds will be forwarded on to Rob Burrow to further the MND cause.[/p][p]Please do what you can, it's hugely appreciated and will help motivate me round the route I have set. I would LOVE to be joined by some of you on the routes I have planned. Head to my Strava page and have a look at them . The last day is March 7th which is the day England play Wales at Twickenham. Maybe join me from Kingston Bridge to Twickenham Stadium which is an additional few miles.....[/p]
