My story

[p]The running shoes are back on! I'm hitting the streets of London this April and running the London Marathon to raise money for a fantastic charity. [/p][p]St Michael’s Fellowship, based in Streatham, South London, works with parents to improve the lives and futures of disadvantaged children and their families. Their aim is to break intergenerational cycles of poverty and underachievement so that children may be healthy, confident and financially independent citizens.[/p][p]St Michael's Fellowship offers parents practical, therapeutic and emotional support that is tailored to their individual needs. [/p][p]Parents may be very young; have mental health issues or learning difficulty; have little in the way of support networks from family or friends. They may have experienced violence or abuse, from within their families and from partners. They may have had previous children removed. Without skilled support, they are unable to care for and nurture their children. These children in turn grow up with no knowledge of how to parent and so the cycle continues.[/p][p]Every penny I can raise will make a real difference. £10 pays for a welcome bag of food & toiletries for a family. £15 pays for snacks and materials and a young fathers and children group. £40 pays for a month of family Saturdays at one of their four houses.[/p][p]I can't think of a better cause to run for than supporting people who are simply trying to raise a family to give their children the best start in life. Especially as a father of two young children myself. [/p][p]It's gonna hurt, but I'm up for it. So please, give what you can! If you don't, I'll bombard your social media feeds with updates of my training. Every step, every blister, every gross energy pouch. [/p][p]Thank you![/p][p][br][/p]
