Torch to Tokyo Challenge

TO DONATE TO THE HOCKEY CLUB CONTACT OUR TREASURER HANNAH MILNE :[/i] hannah.milne@hotmail.co.uk [/p][p]Maldon Hockey Club are attempting to cover the distance between their pitch in Maldon to Tokyo where Team GB will competing in the Men's and Women's hockey competition and back again. All club members from the U8's to the Walking Hockey Players, some in their 70's have been invited to walk, run, cycle, scoot etc and record their miles until we have travelled a combined total of 11,835.8 miles and get the "Torch to Tokyo" and back again by the end of Lockdown 3.0.We hope to raise money for both Farliegh Hospice and the Hockey Club. [/p][p][b][u]Week 6 22 Feb - 28 Feb 2021[/u][/b] In spite of few achey legs and worn out trainers the club is still managing to keep up a very healthy mileage as they wend their home to Park Drive in anticipation of outdoor sport starting up again in April. This week we have covered 1,882.58 miles in our quest to get the Torch back from Tokyo. We have made it from the boarder of China/Mongolia across some of the former Soviet Union and are in Kazakhstan. We have just under 2,000 miles left to go and are definitely on schedule. The donations received this week have made all the difference and are so appreciated. THANK YOU !!!![/p][p][b][u]Week 5 15 Feb - 21 Feb 2021[/u][/b] The journey home is now well underway in spite of some tired legs and a few blisters! This week we have managed a combined 1878.77miles and are currently in China close to the boarder with Mongolia !! We still have 3625.3 miles to go to get back to Maldon and hope to make it by midnight on 7 March 2021. Thanks so much for all the support so far.[/p][p][b][u]Week 4 01 Feb - 14 Feb 2021[/u][/b] WE MADE IT!!!!! The team arrived in Tokyo on Thursday with so many miles to spare we decided to try and get back before Lockdown 3.0 starts to come to an end on March 8 2021. An incredible 5,917 has been covered by members from every section of the club. Every team and section has contributed. Some members have been out every single day before or after work and some sneaking in a walk or run during down time. Having arrived we now need to get back and so we are now attempting the return journey. [/p][p][b][u]Week 3 24th Jan - 31 Jan 2021 [/u][/b]Having covered more distance that we believed possible the decision has been made to bring the torch back home before March 8th 2021. Having travelled 875.7 this week we find ourselves in Kazakhstan close to the boarder with Uzbekistan !! So having adjusted the total mileage we now have 8,454.1 miles left. Thanks so much for all the support so far please keep donating.[/p][p][b][u]Week 2 16th Jan - 23rd Jan 2021[/u][/b] We have now reached Ukraine!! This week has seen the club accumulate a mind blowing 713 miles bring the total mileage to 2002.81 miles. Thanks to all those who have donated so far. And thanks to Gowers Timber Yard, Olio's and The Mitre Tea Shop for advertising this effort by putting up posters for us. [/p][p][b][u]Week 1 11th - 15th Jan 2021[/u][/b] We have managed a combined total of 606.245 virtual miles. A combination of walking, cycling, skipping, horse riding and running has got us as far as Prague. Thank you so much for the support so far!![/p]
