My story

[p]4651km In 24 days - how hard can it be ?[/p][p]This August most people will be relaxing, instead along with a small group of friends I am attempting the 1968 Tour de France route. This marks a significant birthday and supports two charities fighting diseases that have impact mine and many other families.[/p][p]The ‘68 TdF at 4651km and 56,125 metres of climbing over 24 days compares with a 2017 TdF course of 3540km and 25,000 metres of climbing over 23 days. It was a true Tour of the borders of France and enters Belgium, Luxembourg, Andorra and Spain. The longest day is 327km.... Of the 110 riders who started in 1968 only 63 finished ![/p][p]People (including former Tour riders) question if we can complete this sort of distance in the same number of days without the benefit of a peloton and amusingly observe we won’t have any of the “supplements” prevalent in the 60s. All I will say is that it will take a great deal to stop us. For those interested in the full cycling story a fact sheet is attached.[/p][p]I haven’t previously reached out for sponsorship on events but the scale of this challenge and strength of the causes we are supporting I believe merits it this time. Your support would be greatly appreciated.[/p]
