[p]Well, 2020 hasn’t quite turned out the way we had all expected! Life has been turned upside down by a pandemic that has brought dramatic changes and restrictions for us all in every part of our lives – family, education, employment, routine and home life. Young people have been hit particularly hard in all of this, some of them experiencing bereavement and other traumatic experiences during lockdown, and many are needing support as they now adjust to being back at school with all the changes that has brought.[/p][p]Linlithgow Young People’s Project (LYPP) has been at the heart of the Linlithgow Community for 30 years. Established in 1990 in partnership with the churches in Linlithgow, LYPP’s primary focus is to foster a sense of ‘hope’ in the lives and circumstances of the young people they come into contact with. I don’t think there has ever been a greater need for their work![/p][p]Throughout lockdown, The LYPP Youth Workers were busy providing support and ideas to keep young folk busy via social media. The last few weeks have seen them able to restart meeting young people face to face through their street work and this week they have launched the LYPP Counselling Service.[/p][p]In keeping with the 2020 way of having things happen unexpectedly, last weekend saw me signing up for the Virtual London Marathon! With only 5 weeks to go until the big day I’ve a mountain of training to do before then, and I figured that it might be a good opportunity to raise awareness of LYPP’s campaign to raise £30k for their 30th anniversary and to try and help them reach their target. [/p][p]On October 4th 2020 I will be running 26.2 miles around Linlithgow and the surrounding area - 2 x 10 mile loops from Linlithgow Leisure Centre to Philpstoun and back and one final shorter loop from the Leisure Centre to the Park Bistro to make up the final 6.2 miles. Any donation, however small will be gratefully received and put towards the amazing work they do. It will also motivate me to keep going![/p][p]Thank you for all your support![/p]
