Three men and a rower

[p][b]WE HAVE NEWS!!![/b][/p][p]We’ve been speaking to Shelter and they’ve confirmed the venue for our rowing challenge. We’ll be in their West Hampstead shop from 29 November.[/p][p]It’s ‘from’ 29 November because we’re also having to up our challenge in light of the 2018 figures for homeless deaths being released - which are sadly greater than the 2017 ones on which are challenge was based. So, the plan is still to row 500m for every fatality, but for the 2018 figures - a total of 344km rather than the near 300 we were planning on.[/p][p]This additional distance - and having to row during the Shelter shop’s opening hours - mean we’ve had to call in some help. So we’re hugely grateful that the one and only Mr Michael Hall has answered the call and is going to join us for the 3 Men & a Rower challenge.[/p][p]The plan now is we’ll row when the shop is open between 29 November and 1 December. And if that sounds any easier, think again - it’s nearly a sixth more distance in what will be, in total, nearly a sixth less time.[/p][p]So, if you’re in London and feel like a trip to West Hampstead that weekend, we’d love to see you. While training in central London, it was impossible to ignore the many homeless people sleeping on the streets.[/p][p]597 people died sleeping on the streets of England and Wales in 2017. The causes of homelessness might be complex, but that's 597 too many.[/p][p]To raise money for Shelter, which does incredible work supporting the homeless, including many veterans, John and Chris are going to row (on rowing machines) for 24 hours straight. Our goal is 500m per person who died homeless in 2017 - which means more than a quarter of a million metres in 24 hours.[/p][p]As challenges go, this is pretty big. We're going to be training pretty much daily for it, for a year.
