Team story

[p]The Challenge[/p][p]We are a group of Retained Fire Fighters From Billingbourgh Fire station and surounding villages in Lincolnshire who are looking at setting a new record. This would consist off running out lengths off 70mm hose (25 Meters long) under-running and making up again. Nothing to bad until you hear this will be the equivalent length of the height of Everest 8848 Meters which is the equivalent to 354 lengths of 25 meter hose.[/p][p]The other side of the coin is that for every 1 length of 25 meter hose we will need to run 100 meters so the challenge also consists of running a total of 21 miles in fire kit too.[/p][p]We are looking at doing 4 fire fighters at a time and running in a relay event in fire kit in 2021.[/p][p][br][/p][p]The Charitys[/p][p]Every year, thousands of fire fighters are injured whilst protecting the public. Every 30 seconds in the UK, fire fighters are called to an incident, putting their lives on the line, and often sustaining physical injuries whilst carrying out their duties. The Fire Fighters Charity is here for fire fighters during their times of need, and assists over 13,500 individuals every year, by providing pioneering treatment and support services.[/p][p]It costs over £9 million every year to keep the Charity running, and with no government funding, we are completely reliant upon donations from the general public and fire community as well as Charity Fund Raising.[/p][p]Please click on the link to see what They Do: www.firefighterscharity.org.uk[/p][p]LIVES[/p][p]LIVES is proud of its army of dedicated and highly trained volunteers. Our Community First Responders come from all walks of life and often have no previous medical experience – just a willingness to be trained in life saving skills and able to give up some time to respond to calls in their community.[/p][p]Our volunteer doctors, nurses and paramedics provide more advanced skills to complex medical and trauma emergencies. Each responder volunteer is supported and trained to a level of emergency response that he or she feels comfortable with and is encouraged and supported to develop new skills.[/p][p]Lincolnshire Fire and Rescueare also so proud to respond through the Lives partnership meaning that we can attened at thouse times where assistance is needed in their communities.[/p][p]Every year Lives have to raise more than £1 million from public donations to keep our volunteers on the road so that they can be there for their neighbours in time of most need.[/p][p]We believe in being there for the people of Lincolnshire in time of greatest need; delivering immediate high-quality care regardless of the location or time of day.[/p][p]Please click on the link to see what They Do:[/p][p]www.lives.org.uk[/p]
