My story

[p]Next year I will be running the London Marathon for the Equine Grass Sickness Fund! I have wanted to run the London Marathon for EGSF since my horse Alfie was diagnosed with chronic grass sickness in 2017. He spent 7 weeks at the vets before coming home and it took a further 18months for him to recover, having lost 150kg. He is a very lucky survivor as not many do mange to survive this awful disease which there is still so little known about, there is no prevention and no treatment for it, resulting in almost 90% of horses who get it not surviving. [/p][p]I have some running experience having done several half marathons however, this will be my first marathon! It goes without saying I am both excited and terrified at the same time! [/p][p]My aim is to raise £2000 and hopefully more if I can! This money will go into much needed research at the Moredun Foundation. Everyone’s support already is so appreciated and I can’t wait to see how the next few months goes with training and raising awareness for EGSF! [/p][p]Below are a few photos of Alfie when he was very skinny and suffering with the effects of GS, and some of him now.[/p][p]Thank you for however much or little you can donate, Alfie and I are very grateful 💙[/p][p]xx[/p]
