My story

[p][span=font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]In June 2016, our beautiful boy, James, died. James, or Captain Chaos as we called him, was like a tornado in our family, a fearless little ball of energy and sheer lunacy. Anyone that ever had the joy of meeting James came away completely exhausted and entertained in equal measure. He was our world. [/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]No words can describe the trauma and agony of losing a child. I won’t even begin to attempt to do so here. What I can explain, however, is how one charity has helped us rebuild our family. [/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]One of the ‘side effects’ of a traumatic bereavement like ours is a little like brain damage. You have to re-learn everything all over again - from how to concentrate on simple everyday tasks to learning how to socialise and interact with others. But throughout all this, we have had to learn the single most important thing – how to support each other and James’s older sister, Holly. Once a month we have been making the four hour round trip to see our counsellor at Child Bereavement UK. With her help, we are learning how to rebuild our lives and how to make sure that he remains a huge part of our family, more important now than ever following the arrival of his little sister, Georgina, in September. [/span][/p] [p][span=font-size: 7.5pt; font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;]I am running the London Marathon to raise money for this amazing charity and in memory of my beautiful little rascal. Any donation, no matter how small, goes towards helping families like us.  [/span][/p][p][b]If you are kind enough to visit this page and make a donation, I'd love it if you could suggest a song for my playlist on the day so I can think of each of you while I'm running! Just l[/b][b]eave your suggestion in the comment box :) [/b][/p][p][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
