My story

[p]Dear friends, [/p][p]Holiday greetings from all of us here at Virunga National Park.[/p][p]As most of you know, 2018 has been another challenging year for us at the park, not least this week and we’re sending out news this season, with a heavy heart for our lost colleagues. [/p][p]However we want to assure you that we remain steadfast in our efforts, now more than ever, to safeguard Virunga and be a source of hope for its communities and we thank you for standing by us as we work to protect the Park for generations to come. [/p][p]In gratitude for all of your amazing support and encouragement, we invite you on a 5-week photographic journey with us into Virunga National Park this holiday season. We’ll explore the stunning display of Virunga’s wildlife, landscapes and people, highlighting the beauty of this World Heritage Site and what your critical support helps protect. From lava lakes to primates to sustainable energy, the Park is a driver for biodiversity protection and improved livelihood and our work would not be possible without you. This year we have noted the rise in the gorilla population and also seen their status downgraded from critically endangered to endangered. There is still so much work to be done and the rangers need your help. [/p][p]If you’re looking to donate this holiday season, why not join us to support Virunga and help protect the home of the world’s last remaining mountain gorillas as well as the livelihoods of millions of people.[/p][p]Funds raised this holiday season will go towards the Park’s key programmes, such as ranger training, wildlife protection, and working for a safe and sustainable future for Virunga. [/p][p]We ask you to join us on this tour of Virunga by following our social media accounts at the following handles: Instagram @virungnationalpark, Facebook @Virunga and on Twitter @gorillacd.[/p][p]Please do help us spread the word, and if you would like to pledge your support[/p][p]US taxpayers can make a tax deductible donation via virunga.org.[/p][p]For all other countries, donations can be made via this Virgin Money Giving fundraising page. If you are a UK taxpayer, you can also maximize your donation using Gift Aid (25p will be given to every £1 you give).[/p]
