My story

[lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]As a last stand against an impending significant birthday, I am running the London Marathon on 23 April. Having been fortunate enough to be given a place (thank you Geoff), I've decided to use the opportunity to raise money for two causes that face an urgent and critical need for funding.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][b][span=font-size: small;]East Africa Crisis[/span][/b][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]You will not have missed the recent coverage of  the famine that has hit South Sudan, Somalia Kenya and Ethiopia. The deadly combination of drought and conflict has left more than 16 million people on the brink of starvation and in urgent need of food, water and medical treatment.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]One of the best ways to get funding quickly and urgently to the region is through the Disasters Emergency Committee which supports 13 well known UK charities. These in turn, provide effective and swift humanitarian aid to the region.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][b][span=font-size: small;]The New Day Children's Centre[/span][/b][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]The NDCC is a charity working to support vulnerable children living in Bahir Dar, Ethiopia. Many are homeless and have lost their parents. The Centre provides everyday essentials such as food, clothes and access to accommodation for its students, helping them to put an end to their life on the streets, and to provide education in a safe and supportive environment.[/span][span=font-size: small;] [/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]The school was established by a school friend and is supported by a group of us. It now has over 50 students and has relied on £25,000 annually to ensure its survival. That figure is likley to increase as a result of a dramatic rise in the cost of food locally.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]For details of how any donations will help, please have a look at the school's website.[/span][url=http:\\www.ndccethiopia.org.uk][span=font-size: small;]www.ndccethiopia.org.uk[/span][/url][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]I would be extremely grateful for any support you feel able to give to these two causes. Any sum, however modest, will make a  valuable difference.[/span][/p][lt]p style="text-align: left;"[gt][span=font-size: small;]Many thanks - Will[/span][/p][lt]br /[gt][p][span=font-size: x-small;] [/span][/p]
