My story

[p]From 27th June - 10th July 2021, I will be walking 190 miles along the Coast-to-Coast path from one side of the UK to the other. The walk will take 2 weeks to complete, covering an average of 13 miles a day. I will start on the beach at St Bees on the shores of the Irish Sea, collecting a pebble which I will carry all the way across the UK to Robin Hood's Bay, where I will drop the pebble into the North Sea. [/p][p]I am doing this walk for Josh, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in July 2020. He has been incredibly brave in fighting his illness and coping with the intensive treatment he has been receiving at the Sheffield Children's Hospital. [/p][p]The money raised will go towards the much-needed refurbishment of the hospital's Oncology and Haematology Ward (Ward 6), where Josh and his parents Harriet and Ben have stayed as in-patients. Harriet says:[/p][p]"The staff are brilliant, and we have been so well cared for - but the ward itself did not manage to get refurbished with a lot of the rest of the hospital, and could do with a bit of a facelift! It is quite dark and drab and it would be fabulous for there to be a brighter, more positive environment for people like us who are there having received pretty life shattering news, but even more so for families who spend literally months there on end." [/p][p]There is an ongoing fundraising effort to raise £2.75m to pay for the refurb. I have set a target of £10,000, which could fund 10 drop-down beds for the parents of children on the ward, or enhanced en-suite facilities for patients and their families. Any donations, no matter how small, will make a big difference. [/p]

I’m donating after seeing your story on my local news site. My mum passed away from acute lymphoblastic leukaemia 18 years ago - it’s a horrible horrible cancer. I’m so glad to see Josh is making progress in defeating it 💕
