My story

[p]Thank you for visiting my page. [/p][p]I am honored to have been given a place in the London Marathon by the Down’s Syndrome Association. Family and friends who know me are aware of my passionate commitment in raising vital funds for the DSA and in particular their amazing Tell it Right campaign. For those who don’t here is my story...[/p][p]Alice was born in 1996. An amazing, beautiful daughter with Down’s Syndrome. Our hospital experience when she was born was to say the least awful. They did not tell it right and we received very little information or support, however we were given the DSA contact details here we received invaluable information and supporting a friendly welcoming manner- so important as a new first time mum. Alice also had Tetralogy of Fallot and underwent complex heart surgery on two occasions. Again we received wonderful care and support from the DSA during a very difficult time. Sadly Alice died in 2001 aged 5 from sepsis. This changed our family and those who loved her forever and so my fundraising for the DSA began. A positive from a negative.[/p][p]I started to run 5K’s and after a few years progressed to 10k and in 2017 The Great North Run with an auction and parachute jump thrown in.[/p][p]The London Marathon will be an epic and emotional journey for me. I am not fast, more of a plodder but I am 100% committed to raising awareness and much needed funds for the DSA.[/p][p]In memory of Alice please give anything you can- It will mean so much to me and to so many.[/p][p]Thank you so very much- Wendy xx[/p][p]UPDATE[/p][p]Training is going well despite the weather. Tomorrow I will take on my longest challenge. Feeling nervous🥴 Thankful no injuries during training so far. Just planning a few fund raising events to boost my total. [/p][p][br][/p]
