My story

[p]The Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity has had a huge impact on Macs Adventure. In the last 2 years our little office of 50 staff members have proudly brought 10 smiling babies into the world (with 1 more on the way). All our parents are over the moon with their new families, albeit a little more tired. [/p][p]For a couple of our parents there were some complications and their little ones stayed in the babies Intensive Care Unit of the hospital for some time. [/p][p]The tough time they went through has boosted our motivation to do all we can to help. So, not one's to do things by half measures, we have set ourselves an almighty challenge. On Saturday 3rd August our office will be taking on an event of our own making.......The West Highland Wahey!! A 40 miles trek along the West Highland Way from Inverarnan to Milngavie in one day! [/p][p]It is a huge challenge, that is tougher than any of us have ever taken on. We may be a walking company but the constant supply of office biscuits and cakes haven't helped our fitness levels. As you can see in the photos below some of us have started training, while some are carb loading already![/p][p]Our industry partners have been invaluable in helping us organise the day. Kingshouse Travel have kindly donated two drivers and a bus for the the full day, Beinglas Farm are letting 27 of us camp the night before we start, AMS luggage transfers are picking up our tents, while Rowardennan Hotel and Oak Tree Inn are providing us with free rooms for our marshals. We cannot thank them all enough for helping us make sure every penny raised goes directly to the charity![/p][p]We have set ourselves the ambitious target of raising £5000. This will fund the children's hospital teaching area for a full year. The teaching area is a mini teddy bear hospital where doctors are able to explain to the children and their parents the procedure they are about to experience using teddies and miniature equipment. Explaining what is going to happen in a way the child can understand helps reduce fear and anxiousness of both the child and the parents. Research has shown that this helps speed the child's recovery.[/p][p]The money the charity raises also funds research and essential equipment along with everyday tasks of transporting breast milk for premature babies across the country. They fund a countless list of necessary functions which help look after Glasgow and Scotland's children. [/p][p]For an insight into the charity please watch their short 95 second video at [/p][p]To add to the money raised on the West Highland Wahey, we are also working hard in other ways by holding bake sales and stalls along with other events throughout the year. Some staff members are running half marathons, some are taking on the three peaks challenge.[/p][p]So if you if you can help, and have just a couple of pounds simply click the donate button to help us out![/p]
