My story

[p]This summer I am cycling The Way of The Roses Coast 2 Coast route from Morecambe to Bridlington in aid of the Yorkshire Children's Cancer Charity, Candlelighters and CALM, Campaign Against Living Miserably. [/p][p]I plan to complete the 274 km route in three days staying at my home on the first night in Rylstone. I will be definitely be ready for my bed after the challenging steep climb out of Settle up the cobbles onto High Hill Lane at the end of day 1! [/p][p]The second leg takes me away from home through Nidderdale and the climb up to Greenhow situated at 1325 feet - the highest point of the route. After the steep descent into Pateley Bridge we will pass Brimham Rocks heading towards Ripon where we enter the flatter vale of York and hopefully enjoy some river side cycling as we enter the heart of the walled city! [/p][p]The final day of Cycling is through the Yorkshire Wolds which I hope will offer some slightly easier off road sections as far as Stamford Bridge. By this stage I will be looking forward to seeing the North Sea and arriving at the beach at the foot of Flamborough Head cliffs.[/p][p]I have now started my training on the exercise bike at home and out and about enjoying the scenery of the Yorkshire Dales. I will be accompanied by my Dad on this ride with much needed support from Mum and Charlie. [/p][p]Candlelighters have supported two local children I know who have both suffered from cancer during their childhood. Both were incredibly grateful to the help they were given by the charity and this is why it is a charity I wish to support. [/p][p]CALM offers support to young men who are suffering with depression and on average prevent two suicides per day through their work. My parents knew a 21 year old who sadly took his own life three years ago and therefore suggested I include this charity in my fundraising.[/p][p]Thank you for taking the time to read this story and I would be really grateful for any donation you can give to help me reach my target.[/p]
