My story

[p]On the 28th of April, I'll be running the London Marathon for a Foundation that has become very special to me, in memory of an extremely talented and beloved friend, Seb Adeniran-Olule. [/p][p]After speaking to Liz, Seb's mother and the founder of this wonderful cause, we decided that £5,000 is an ambitious, but very achievable target. All donations by you extremely generous people, will contribute to the funding of a fantastic academic and sporting education for young people. Seb and I were both the beneficiaries of a scholarship/bursary, and through running the marathon, I'm trying to help others have the same opportunities to realise and fulfil their potential. [/p][p]Before deciding to sign up to the marathon, I had never run more than 2 or 3 miles continuously, so 26.2 initially seemed impossible. However, my pledge from the beginning was to give it my all, and so far, I have managed to run two half marathons around Durham. Over the next few months, I'll continue to give 100% so that I can not only finish, but also clock a good time. [/p][p]I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who's already sent me messages of support, followed the instagram page (username: williamtbrinkley) I created for the marathon, and most importantly, to those who have already donated, or will be donating to Sebs Foundation! [/p][p]For me, the London Marathon is only the beginning of what I hope will be a long and meaningful relationship with this Foundation, so please help me champion its cause!! [/p][p]Below this message is more information on Sebs Foundation.[/p][p]Big love, [/p][p]Will Brinkley [/p][p]------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------[/p][p]The link to Sebs Foundations website is: http://sebsfoundation.org/ [/p][p]Seb’s Foundation was established to bring hope from tragedy, following the death of Seb Adeniran-Olule, aged 20, in a road traffic collision in 2016. The Foundation provides opportunities for young people who would not otherwise be able to access them because they come from disadvantaged backgrounds. We do this by removing barriers so that talented young people are able to fulfill their academic and sporting potential, develop and flourish; as well as by collaborating with key partners to support their mental health and wellbeing.[/p][p]For the first time in a century infant mortality rose in 2015. It then then rose again in 2016. Much of this is related to deprivation, poverty and inequality. A report in October 2018 by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health predicts that if the rate of increase stays the same, the UK's infant mortality will be 140% higher than 15 other European countries within the next 12 years.[/p][p]We must not fail our children. By donating to Seb's Foundation through this page, you can be a part of the work to ensure this doesn't happen. Every penny you give will contribute to improving the lives of young people by opening doors that would otherwise be closed to them.[/p][p]Seb Adeniran-Olule was academically gifted and a talented rugby player, playing for the First XV for both Whitgift School and Wellington College. A Harlequins Academy player, dual registered with Richmond FC, Seb represented England at the U16, U18 and U20s age groups and was a member of the U20s team that became Six Nations Champions in 2015.[/p][p]Seb's Foundation is supported by Wellington College, Harlequin FC and Richmond FC.
