My story

[p]48/30 - 48 Marathons, in the 48 Counties of England, in 30 Days[/p][p]I didn't understand sadness or depression until my mum, Amanda passed away in January 2018. She was the healthy member of the family and yet she was the one who got cancer. Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, which she fought on more than one occasion. She was the most special person in my life and was taken from the world at just 53 leaving a husband and two boys behind. Myself, William, being one of them.[/p][p]Running became my therapy, with the happiest memory of my life being in August 2017. I never ran, I hated it, but decided to go for one for no reason at all. When I got back mum called and said she was in remission, the best feeling of my life. When she passed 5 months later I dealt with it by running and I still do. Emotion = Energy and I run on days where I miss her most. Christmas, Mothers Day, her birthday. It also gave me meaning to celebrate the strength she had as a person and a cancer sufferer. The physical pain I go through is insignificant compared to those suffering and not close to the mental suffering that affects the family and friends too. [/p][p]So I have done some running challenges to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, an amazing charity thats nurses helped Mum whilst at Bedford Hospital. 48/30 is the biggest and most challenging of my life. Most days will be double marathons, but it's all for an amazing cause and my reasoning is enough to get me through and hopefully raise money for Macmillan as well as shining a light on using pain for good. [/p][p]I will be covering the whole of England running a marathon distance of 26.2 miles in each of the 48 counties. I will be doing this in 30 days finishing at the official London Marathon - aptly Macmillan are the main charity sponsor. It will be a world record in Amanda Jayne Goodge's memory.[/p][p]I thank you for reading this passage and your interest in donating. This is my gift to my mum and she is with me every step of the way. Love you mum[/p][p]A message from Macmillan[/p][p]We're here to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support. So whatever cancer throws your way, we're right there with you.
