My story

[p]“A man can be as great as he wants to be. If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, the dedication, the competitive drive, it can be done” [/p][p]My name is William and I am a House Leader at Camphill Blair Drummond. As part of our Appeal we are currently in the process of raising funds to build a Sports and Recreational Centre within our Community which will provide our Resident’s and Day Students with a safe environment, to undertake a variety of leisure and social activities.[/p][p]In order to play an active role in raising funds and awareness I decided to register for the Glasgow Great Scottish Run 10k in September this year, and asked Mark to support me along the way.[/p][p]Mark, one of our Residents, is an individual who not only inspires others but encourages people to step out their comfort zone and realise their potential. Mark is diagnosed with Fragile X – a generic disorder which manifests itself in a variety of ways. To Mark, Fragile X is just a diagnosis that he does not allow to get in his way of being “one of the lads”. Throughout Mark’s life he has had to deal with many challenges but he has overcome them all and on Sunday 30th September participating in the Great Scot Run 10k is another challenge he will face head-on! I am confident there is nothing Mark will allow to get in his way of crossing that finish line.[/p][p]Together, we hope to raise £2000 which will contribute towards providing the Residents and Day Students with the appropriate sports/ gym equipment, suitable to their needs and preferences.[/p][p]“However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at” [/p]
