My story

[p]My 17yo daughter Neisha and I are running the British 10K on 15 July, to raise money for the Cochlear Implanted Children's Support Group (CICS). As a family, we have been members of CICS since 2001, when Neisha's brother Sam received a cochlear implant, having been left profoundly deaf by near-fatal pneumococcal meningitis when 20 weeks old.[/p][p]CICS is a support group for families, run by families, as we all tend to face frustratingly similar challenges, whether it be finding and accessing the right school and educational support, or battling with a cash-starved local authority over funding of that special educational provision. Over the past 17 years, we have made so many friends, and received so much guidance and support - both practical and emotional. And we try to give some support to other families going through the things for which we already have the T-shirt. So, between us Neisha and I are trying to raise £1,000 for CICS this year. (Having run the £10K the last two years, Sam is sadly unable to run this year as he will be on a training course that weekend).[/p][p]Thank you for taking the time to read this far. And, if you would like to donate, we and CICS will be very, very grateful.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
