Team story

[p]*** UPDATE 17-9-2018 ***[/p][p]We made it! [/p][p]Simon-Peter completed Worcester City Half Marathon in 1 h 38 mins 23 secs and Lara completed her fist ever 10K in 1 h 9 mins and 22 secs, in memory of their precious daughter.[/p][p]Thank you everyone for your kind donations to support the fight against childhood cancer, Esther must be a very proud girl![/p][p]******************************************************************************************************************[/p][p][br][/p][p]Simon-Peter and Lara are running Worcester City Half Marathon and 10K in memory of their precious daughter Esther, to raise funds to support the fight against childhood cancer.[/p][p]Please take a few moments to read Esther’s story and the reasons why they are fundraising. Follow this link:[/p][p]https://www.gracekellyladybird.co.uk/estherssmiles[/p][p][br][/p][p]"Esther was an amazing little girl with a gorgeous smile.[/p][p]She was caring, she loved helping to look after little babies and playing nurse with her baby dolls; she was daring, always sliding down the highest slide and climbing up and down with no fear at all; she was confident, never afraid of anything or anybody – people or pets. Esther was girly, she loved changing her clothes several times a day, putting on her toy nail varnish and lipstick, filling up her purses and handbags. Esther was clever, she knew the words of several nursery rhymes from a very early age and always wanted to know more about things, asking the question “why?”; she was fun, happy and bubbly, sometimes mischievous, always such a pleasure to be with.[/p][p]Esther loved company, she was happy when surrounded by her friends and family and never shied away from any social occasion, but above all Esther was loving: she loved her Mummy very much and had so much love to give to everyone. Esther was one of a kind, who left an indelible mark in the life of everyone who has been lucky enough to cross her path.[/p][p]Losing a child is a loss like no other, a grief that lasts forever. Our life is forever divided in “before” and “after” the death of our beautiful daughter. I never knew that missing someone could hurt so badly. I never knew that missing someone would change me so irrevocably. I never knew how deep and wide love could flood into my life. I never knew how precious this life was until I met her. I never knew just how much love could hurt until she left."[/p][p]Lara (Esther's Mummy)[/p][p][br][/p][p]Childhood cancer is the number one cause of medical death of children in the UK. Every year 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer. As a whole, survival rates of children are improving. In reality, the majority of improvements in survival have been within a few of the most common cancer types, in particular, leukaemia.[/p][p]In the UK children receive only approximately 1.3% of cancer research funding, and this small amount of funding is concentrated on the most common forms of childhood cancer, while the most rare forms of cancer, like the type Esther had, are lagging far behind.[/p][p]Please donate to honour our precious Angel Esther and all the little big heroes who fought against childhood cancer and lost their battle. Please help us to find a cure.[/p][p][br][/p]
