Team story
[p]Adorning the walls of the World in Motion’s head office in London is Bill Shankly’s famous quotation: “Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I assure you, it's much more serious than that.”[/p][p][br][/p][p]Over the past few months, however, the nation has been devastated by a cruel virus, and with deaths mounting daily, even football has temporarily paled in significance as our brave key workers battle to keep us all safe. In support of this, through the World in Motion Foundation, the staff of World in Motion have challenged themselves to ‘Cycle the 92’ – that is, cycling the equivalent of the 2,416 miles that link the 92 professional football clubs that constitute The Premier League and the EFL, while always adhering to strict government guidelines on social distancing and unnecessary travel. The miles will be made up by various staff members and guests riding either on road bikes (in compliance with government guidelines) or static bikes at home. We aim to cycle approximately 300 miles per day, for eight days in order to complete the total 2,416 miles.[/p][p] [/p][p]This epic journey is to be carried out by staff from our various offices in London, Cardiff, Lyon, Stuttgart, Medellin (Colombia), Budapest and beyond. All with the common goal of raising as much money as possible for our chosen good causes; NHS Charities Together, Prostate Cancer UK and Velindre Cancer Centre.[/p][p][br][/p][p]The ride kicks off at 3pm on Saturday, 9 May, from our head office in Hammersmith, London. The finish line is at our Cardiff office at 4.50pm on Saturday, 16 May, some 8 days, 2,416 miles and 92 football clubs later! Daily updates and interaction will be posted on our various social media channels.[/p][p][br][/p][p]All at World in Motion would be delighted if you could help in the following ways:[/p][p][br][/p][p]1) Join us for a leg of the journey and cycle along with one of the company clients and special guests that take part. Get involved and raise as much as you can by using this Virgin Money Giving page.[/p][p]2) Any cycling and non-cycling donations over £10 will be entered into our prize draw. This information can be found on our website.[/p][p]3) Spread the word and support us via your social media links.
