However, due to hunting, forest loss and the pet trade many of these unique species are under threat. One of the most threatened is the Sulawesi crested black macaque – known locally as yaki. Restricted to small forest fragments in the Northern tip of the island, these monkeys have experienced an estimated population decline of up to 90% in the last 30 years, and are now Critically Endangered and in urgent need of protection.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Selamatkan Yaki is a project through the Whitley Wildlife Conservation Trust based at Paignton Zoo in the UK, comprising a strong collaboration of partners, with support and cooperation from key stakeholders. By focussing on protected area management, ecotourism, community development, education and awareness-raising we can work together to reduce the threats to the species. By protecting yaki, we also safeguard many other species, and the people that live alongside them.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: justify;"[gt]Our project is still in its infancy, thus the development and long-term continuation of our conservation activities are dependent on small grants and donor money. Through your support we will be able to initiate upcoming projects addressing our objectives, in order to reduce the threats to this beautiful primate species. [lt]br /[gt][lt]br /[gt]A donation is quick and simple though this page, and will be very gratefully received. Please accept our most sincere thanks for your support. We hope you have a wonderful day, with a nice warm feeling of doing good. :)[/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt]Please follow us on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and on www.selamatkanyaki.com[/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt] [lt]img title="Selamatkan Yaki logo" src="http://i59.tinypic.com/71k9br.jpg" alt="Selamatkan yaki" width="176" height="149" /[gt][/p]

Hi, I live locally and spoke to one of your Keepers just recently who said you were out in Sulawesi now. I've also done some fieldwork with the Buton macaque in Sulawesi so wanted to support the charity. I am guessing you did well! Best wishes Ruth
