My story

[p]Exactly a year ago I run my first ever Half Marathon. Also, for the first time, I supported a charity. [/p][p]I chose Children's Hospice SW. Why? Well, I figured that having children is something very special but there are no guarantees that the child we are bringing to this world will be healthy. There is NOTHING that any of us - parents, did or didn't do to deserve healthy or unhealthy kid. There simply are no rules, no entitlement. [/p][p]I'm the lucky mum with health kids but there are so many families out there that are not so lucky and yet, they love their kids and care for them. They are the heros of this world.[/p][p]I knew that, but I saw it event clearer when I visited the Children's Hospice SW last year. [/p][p]The hospice, is such a bright place, and yes it is also the last resort 'departure lounge' where you say that most difficult of 'goodbyes', when you let your child go, when the child slips away from your arms... BUT the hospice is not just that! As I said, it is a bright, positive place where families can stay and have a break, where their ill child can be safe and looked after by highly trained, kind and fun staff. Where families can stay and enjoy a bit of time off like a dinner in a restaurant or a cinema trip. [/p][p]When I visited the hospice last year, I though it didn't affect me... but it did, because a year later I still think about that place and for that reason, I decided to run another Bath Half on 17 March 2020 for them.[/p]
