My story

[p]Hi my name is Renee, thank you for taking the time to read my story. I am running London again to show you can do anything with lung conditions AND in memory of family we have lost to asthma and lung conditions. [/p][p]I have suffered from Asthma since the age of 18 years old and in January 2016, I was sadly diagnosed with the early stages of Emphysema I will die early and there is no cure, the only chance I have is to try and control and keep it at bay for as long as I am able to! Despite the initial shock and upset knowing my time on this earth could be limited I started to question what I could do instead and see these disabilities as a superpower rather than a draw back. Last year I was privileged to run London Marathon 2019 for Asthma UK who are an amazing and supporting charity meeting many inspirational people. I never thought I would be able to do all of this but here I am keeping on doing what I love to keep living and breathing! I know eventually that my lungs will slowly fill up and that I will die. [/p][p]We have recently lost my lovely mother in law Betty and I've also lost my Grandad and other family members to this awful and dangerous condition! With my mum also suffering from often dangerous attacks whilst I was a small child. [/p][p]I wish to inspire more people out there if I can, by even saving one life by fundraising to those less fortunate than I am! By making a difference it’s all worthwhile for people who suffer life threatening conditions on a daily basis like me! This is where I need your help to reach these goals, and I will greatly appreciate your help in whatever shape or form you can assist me. [/p][p]There are 5.4 million people with asthma in the UK, which means asthma affects one in every 11 people and one in five households. For a quarter of a million people with severe asthma, even climbing the stairs can feel like a marathon, never mind going outside their home.[/p][p]Please whatever you can spare to help me raise funds for this vital cause. Just £5 could help research into new allergy drugs, helping stop a common cause of asthma attacks, £10 could help connect people with asthma nurses on the UK's only specialist asthma helpline, £20 could help fund vital work aimed at stopping asthma attacks caused by viruses and infections. [/p]
