My story

[p]When a friend contacted me and asked if I wanted to cycle from London to Paris, I um-ed and ah-ed, and um-ed a bit more. Having not been on my bike at all in 2018 at that point, this sounded like an impossible challenge. Then I read his reasons for wanting to do it. Some close family friends of his lost their 19-year old son on boxing day, following a battle with Osteosarcoma (bone cancer). For them, Christmas will never be the same again. They have now taken it upon themselves to raise as much money as possible in memory of Tom, for his chosen charities: Bone Cancer Research Trust, to progress the research into bone cancer, and Oxford University Hospital, who help support those who are affected by this disease.[/p][p] You can read the full story on Tom's page via the “In loving memory of Tom Stead” link above.[/p][p] With raising money for such a great cause, how could I say no?! [/p][p]And so, along with 9 other (crazy?!) people, I (nervously) agreed to do my part and take up the challenge. From 6th – 10th June 2018 we will be riding 300 miles, over 4 days, from London to Paris. The ride will take us through the Kent countryside to Dover, before crossing the Channel to Calais. The route then takes us along French country lanes, through traditional market towns, finishing up at the Eiffel Tower.[/p][p]The ride is self-funded, so 100% of what you give will go to Tom’s chosen charities. So please, donate generously and wish me “Bonne Chance”![/p][p] [/p]
