My story

[lt]h2[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]A Big Thank You[/span][lt]/h2[gt] [p]Thank you for all the support and encouragement during my 3 months leading up to the big race.  It was tough, but I ended up with a respectable 3hours 27 minutes and 25 seconds.  Also I was very pleased to have raised over £1400 pounds for the RPMF in the process.[/p][p]Thanks again.[/p][p]Kind regards[/p][p]Alan.[/p][p][/p][lt]h2[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]The Road to London[/span][lt]/h2[gt][p]This started back in 2010 with a New Year's resolution to walk 1 mile around Rhoose Point each evening in an effort to get fitter.  After a month I decided to start jogging instead.  As time went on I ran whilst my children were taking part in activities with Rhoose Lifeguards, Fonty Flippers or City of Cardiff Swimming Club.[/p][p]In October of 2010 I completed the Cardiff Half Marathon and have now also completed each year since.  I have another year to do this on my own until my daughter can also run this with me in 2017.[/p][p]Recently I have taken part in the Swansea 10k, plus Gwent League and Inter Regional cross country races.[/p][p]I joined Cardiff Amateur Athletics Club, which my daughter has attended for a few years.  In 2015 I managed the U13 Girls Youth Development League team and the club made it through to the National Finals in Birmingham.[/p][p]For the last 5 years I have been in the ballot for the London Marathon but never been successful in gaining a place.[/p][lt]h2[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]Ron Pickering memorial fund (RPmf)[/span][lt]/h2[gt][p]I became aware of the RPmf through my links with Cardiff AAC. I have seen first hand how the small grants awarded by the fund can make a big difference to a young athlete in their transition to senior level.  The grants are designed to help with coaching, equipment, travel and also importantly help build an athletes confidence and self esteem.[/p][p]When the opportunity to run the London Marathon on behalf of the RPmf came up on 28th January, I had to grab it with both hands, even though there is less than 3 months left until the big day.[/p][p]It's a double-whammy, donations for Ron and the achievement of a long time ambition for me.[/p][lt]h2[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]Please Help[/span][lt]/h2[gt][p]I now need to raise as much money as possible, ideally hitting or exceeding my target of £1,500.  If you can spare a few pounds, or can dig deep and put in even a little bit extra, it will make a big difference.  Please hit one of the 'Donate now' buttons and contribute to this worthy cause.[/p][p][/p][lt]h2[gt][span=color: #ff0000;]Thank You ![/span][lt]/h2[gt][p][/p]
