Team story

[p]The idea for this adventure is not born out of personal experience, nor is it inspired by a singularly inspirational person. We originally decided to do this as much out of a desire to actually do the challenge, as to support the incredible work of our chosen charity, 'Young Minds' which provides support for youth mental illness.[/p][p]But in the process of choosing a charity, and as we researched different causes, we became ever more shocked at the epidemic of depression and mental health among the youth. The sheer magnitude of it is terrifying, from the 20% of young adults who have a mental health disorder, to its absolute extremes of suicide, which is the single highest cause of death in males aged 5-19. There's also the added incentive that it is the 25th anniversary since the creation of 'Young Minds' charity and to mark this occasion, there is a huge drive to try and raise £2.5 million!!! It's a fantastic cause and if you want to learn more about what they do you can find out here. In support of this cause, we are trying to raise £2000: but any donation from you would be greatly appreciated to help us reach our goal and support 'Young Minds'!![/p][p]Of course, it is also an opportunity for old-school friends to do something that we have all wanted to do for a while. We reckon that it will take us 13 hours total to complete the 24 miles of up and down walking which, for comparison is 6 and a bit times longer than it took Mo to run the London Marathon, and he's tiny, so it should be easy...right? Well, we're not so sure. The plan is to start up in Scotland with Ben Nevis, then down to Scafell Pike, and finally across to Snowdon for the final ascent, and a new cover photo opportunity. It all sounds nice on paper, but those 24 hours will challenge us to the extreme, both mentally and physically, so any and all support is very welcome!![/p][p]Lots of love,[/p][p]Alex, Dan,George, Josh, Matt and Toby[/p]
