My story

[p]HELLO![/p][p]This was a bit of a surprise. I entered the ballot for the Marathon last spring, thinking that I ought really to have another bash and see if I could improve my time while raising some money for a good cause. It usually takes several years to be fortunate enough to get a ballot place, but, blow me, in October I received the "YOU'RE IN!" magazine in the post, telling me that, well...I was in![/p][p]This time I'm collecting sponsorship for the wonderful folk at Perennial, the Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society. They do a fantastic job providing free help and support to those who find themselves in need, in an industry which is not renowned for over generous remuneration, where it can be difficult to build up a financial cushion to see you through times when your physical and/or mental well-being can threaten your livelihood. A vital lifeline to folks in my profession, and a great advocate for the horticultural industry as a whole. [/p][p]I'd really love it if you could spare a few quid to help me on my way - a few large donations are of course gratefully received, but to be honest seeing a page full of your names with whatever you can spare will cheer me through the soggy wet months as I'm training to plod around the capital. Again. Hopefully a bit faster this time...you know, it's all very well those speedy folks thinking they're all fit doing the marathon in three hours or something, but you need proper stamina to be out there for over FIVE like I was last time![/p][p]Thank you so much![/p][p][/p][p]Andrew x[/p][p][/p][p][/p][hr/][p]And now the small print bit...[/p][p][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
