Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]Many of you have supported me during the last 10 years when I have run 4 Marathons - Swiss Alpine in 2006, London in 2007 and 2012 and Edinburgh in 2008.[/p][p]In 2010 I succesfully climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania which is over 19,000 feet, the highest mountain in Africa. In October 2014 I was part of the Team who Treked many miles in the heat of the Sahara Desert.[/p][p]This year will be slightly different the Challenge will beTreking 100km of the Brecon Beacons South Wales.I will have the support of a fellow volunteer and good friend Saeid Nazari who has been volunteering at the Hospice these past 16 months.[/p][p]Like all my challenges this year as team, I will be doing in memory of my wife, Anna Attridge, who sadly died  on February 22nd 2006, aged just 48, after eight months with terminal Pancreatic Cancer. Anna was an incredible lady, who never complained or moaned.[/p][p]The reason I chose North London Hospice again as my charity, is because of the support and care given in looking after Anna during the last two weeks of her life, as well as the prior care that they provided.[/p][p]North London  Hospice is very much about life and making most of the time left.[/p][p]Since 2007 I have been a volunteer in the Inpatient Unit at Finchley, I help out in many ways  - I see the difference just holding someone's hand can make, reading to them or taking them out for a walk even if it's in a wheelchair or bed, it really does lift them, you can see the joy on their faces. Whatever we do at the Hospice, it really is a privilege to be able to help and support the patients, their family and friends at what can be a very diffucult time.[/p][p]So I would ask you to please support Saeid and myself so that terminally ill patients like Anna can be looked after and benefit from the care and support my wife enjoyed.[/p][p]Many, many thanks love Saeid and Joe xx[/p][p] [/p]
