My story

[p]Running for those who have found recovery, those still trying and those that never got the chance.[/p][p]Thank you so much for supporting us as we face the challenge of running the London Marathon 2019 to raise money for Action on Addiction. Let us tell you why your help will mean so much to us. [/p][p]We have watched those we know and care for struggle with addiction. They have lost their families. Lost their homes. Lost their jobs. Lost their money. Lost themselves and sadly, some have lost their lives. [/p][p]Many of you reading this have experienced and shared these journeys with us and with them. Many of you have your own stories to tell and for some the story continues. [/p][p]One Day At A Time. [/p][p]We live in an age of addiction. An all-encompassing condition, which has become an epidemic, with 1 in 3 people addicted to something. Tearing its way through the lives of families, it leaves a trail of devastation, breaking hearts and homes. There is still the stigma and shame attached to addiction, yet it exists and survives in both poverty and extreme wealth. [/p][p]Junkies, alkies, crack-heads, hopeless-cases. All too familiar words to describe people battling with addiction. However, the reality is that most individuals suffering with addiction have homes, families, friends, jobs and people who love them. [/p][p]Childhood is the foundation on which our entire lives are built, however 3 million children in the UK face the daily chaos, fear and abandonment experienced when living in a family dealing with addiction. [/p][p]So please, please dig deep. We want more people to believe they can and raise money to help those who believe they can't. Thank You. [/p][p]Rachel and Robert [/p]
