My story

[p][br][/p][p]Beth and Tom are a husband and wife team who luckily managed to secure places through the ballot and via a charity place to run the London Marathon for Bridges Centre on 26th April 2020. Unfortunately this Marathon was postponed just short of the date due to the Coronavirus pandemic. The re-scheduled date was 4th October but alas this can not happen due to Covid restrictions and everyone’s safety. The London Marathon has therefore allowed us to defer our places to one of the races within the next 3 years and offered us the unique opportunity to run the London Marathon as a virtual event on 4th October, this is also a fantastic opportunity as it is the 40th year and anniversary of the London Marathon.[/p][p]Beth currently works for Bridges Centre as a HR Advisor, so this charity is very close to their hearts and they both want to see it grow and maintain future sustainability. As Bridges Centre is a smaller charity, it is heavily dependent on fundraising to be able to continue to provide a safe haven for the elderly, lonely and isolated and for children and adults with additional needs. They also provide a community hub for avariety of activities and businesses. [/p][p]Tom and I have never run a Marathon before and although we are keen runners, the long distances are a real mental challenge for us but we are going to give it our all in order to keep raising funds for Bridges Centre, who are a very worthy charity who support the whole of Monmouthshire.[/p][p]Our “little” London Virtual Marathon[/p][p]Our virtual Marathon is going to take place near to our home with a few other runners who are supporting their own charities. Ironically there is a place called “Little London” where we are going to start as we thought this would align with the fact we were due to run the London Marathon. We are then taking on an extremely hilly 26.2 mile challenge and finishing in our hometown of Longhope. If anyone would be kind enough to come and support, we will be publishing the route on Bridges Centre facebook page and website prior to the event. [/p][p]Please help Beth and Tom to achieve their fundraising target. [/p][p][img][/img][/p][p][img][/img][/p]
