My story

[p]The 2018 cycle ride is being held to raise money for Central Cheshire Buddy Scheme (CCBS), Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity Dementia Appeal and Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) via sponsorship raised by the cyclists and anyone who wants to help.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Central Cheshire Buddy Scheme (CCBS) is a voluntary not for profit organisation, established in 2004 which supports children and young people with disabilities, their families and their siblings through activity clubs, holiday clubs and residential breaks.. We support over 150 children, within these clubs. Most importantly a CARERS GROUP - We are aware that many parents and carers find it difficult to cope on a day to day basis. The demands of caring can be immense, exhausting and at times even overwhelming. The group aims to provide short, but well-earned breaks from the role of caring, and regular chat and chill groups.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity's current major appeal is called ‘Everybody Knows Somebody’and aims to raise £1.5m to support a range of projects that will benefit people living with dementia and other cognitive problems who are cared for at our hospitals and in the community. Some of these projects are:[/p][p]· A Dementia friendly welcome area, lounge and garden in our Elderly Care Ward[/p][p]· Changes to the social areas within our Rehabilitation Unit aimed at promoting independence and supporting the well-being of people living with Dementia[/p][p]· Dementia Friendly cubicles in our Accident & Emergency Department[/p][p]· Improvements that will enhance the healing environment across the organisation, such as signage, flooring, furnishings and décor.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide aims to meet the needs and overcome the isolation experienced by people who have been bereaved by suicide. More than 6000 people take their own life each year and each suicide has a devastating and lasting impact on families, friends and communities. Help is offered via a range of services including a helpline, email support and support groups which are run by volunteers, the majority of whom have been bereaved by suicide themselves. Services are provided for as long as someone needs them and it doesn’t matter how long it has been since the bereavement happened or what the relationship was with the person who died. All services are provided confidentially. The helpline number is 0300 111 5065.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
