My story

[p]Well 2020, Covid 19, marathon cancelled!! We had been planning and training for the April date and then corona virus struck. First postponed and then cancelled it looked as if the marathon was off but I have just signed up for "The Edit". [/p][p]I will be running 20 miles virtually recorded on the marathon app and then on 11th October I will run the last 6.2 miles in a socially distanced event on Hove sea front.[/p][p][br][/p][p]During this crazy year the food bank has been really busy so your support is appreciated all the more. Thanks to those who has sponsored us as also to those who are going to sponsor me. Ian is going to cheer me on this time and hopes to run the full marathon in 2021.[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]"I'll never run a marathon!" Exactly what both Ian and I always said! However this year Brighton Food bank, a department of Brighton and Hove City Mission, have been looking for people to run on their behalf and we thought "Why Not?"[/p][p]Ian has done some running over the years but I have never been very sporty. In 2014 our daughter invited us to join her at park run, Ian loved it, I dragged myself over the line and said "Never again!" However in December 2016 I decided to give it another go (after I was told I was pre-diabetic). Since then I haven't looked back. Ian had begun to run 10ks and half marathons. I tackled my first 10k in September 2017. I then ran my first half marathon (along with Ian) on our 34th wedding anniversary in Feb 2018.[/p][p]Each half marathon is really hard work so we said we didn't want to run a longer distance. However Brighton Foodbank do such a amazing job meeting the needs of people who are at a point of crisis in their lives. We are getting out of our comfort zone and training for the Brighton Marathon. Please support us and the work of the food bank.[/p][p][br][/p]
