[/p][p]On June 27th - a team of keen trekkers from British Gypsum are attempting to complete the national 3 Peaks Challenge.[/p][p]This involves climbing Britain's three highest peaks - Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon...all within 24 hours or less.[/p][p]Here are some key facts & figures:[lt]br /[gt][b]Total distance walked[/b] = 26 miles (42km)[lt]br /[gt][b]Total distance travelled[/b] = 478 miles (769km)[lt]br /[gt][b]Total ascent[/b] = 22,356 feet (3,407m)[/p][p][b]Ben Nevis[/b] (1,344 m or 4,409 ft), the highest mountain in Scotland[lt]br /[gt][b]Scafell Pike[/b] (978 m or 3,209 ft), the highest mountain in England[lt]br /[gt][b]Snowdon[/b] / (1,085 m or 3,560 ft), the highest mountain in Wales[/p][p][i][span=text-decoration: underline;]--A note from our MD-- [/span][/i][/p][p]“We have accepted a challenge to complete the tough National 3 Peaks (Ben Nevis, Scafell, Snowdon) within 24 hours, traveling over 478 miles, climbing and descending over 22,000 feet, in aid of 2 very important charities.[/p][p]The charities this money will be raised are really quite dear to us all:[/p][p][span=color: #339966;]Macmillan Cancer Support do a marvellous job caring for people with cancer, whilst giving support to their families too. They have been a great help to many of our friends and family making their last few days more comfortable and supporting us all.[/span][/p][p][span=color: #ff0000;]CRASH is the construction industry’s official charity for the homeless. Supporting the building of hostels, homes, and training and rehabilitation facilities, CRASH helps homeless people back into mainstream society and back into work.
