My story

[p]English wine producers are raising much needed funds for two charities close to their hearts: The Drinks Trust and Hospitality Action. Participating producers are invited to donate a percentage of their sales generated over the Easter Weekend, via the #BigEnglishWineEaster initiative.[/p][p]#BigEnglishWineEaster follows 2020s #theBIGenglishwinegoodfriday, an initiative created by the CEO and winemaker of Black Chalk, Jacob Leadley; it was originally designed to support wine producers impacted by the first Lockdown. The 2021 incarnation - #BigEnglishWineEaster – will now support those in the U.K. drinks and hospitality industry who have been most affected by the impact of the pandemic. All money raised will be split equally between The Drinks Trust and Hospitality Action.[/p][p] [/p][p]#BigEnglishWineEaster will encourage consumers to buy a bottle of wine – or two! – from their local or favourite vineyards and wineries and taste and share on social media between 7pm and 8pm on Saturday, 3rd April, tagging #BigEnglishWineEaster & #BEWE.[/p][p] [/p][p]Wine retailers will also be on board, with customer tastings and promotions, and restaurants able to deliver or offer takeaway will be creating limited edition menus to match to specific English wines. Great British Wine will be organising an English wine themed raffle as part of the fundraising initiative. Details of this can be found via https://www.greatbritishwine.com/bewe/[/p][p] [/p][p]Two ways to support: [/p][p]1. Producers are invited to donate a percentage of their sales from the Easter Weekend [/p][p] [/p][p]2. Anyone can enter the #BigEnglishWineEaster Raffle for a chance of winning one of a number of fantastic prizes donated by producers, restaurants and the trade at large. [/p][p]To enter, please donate £10 stating “RAFFLE” in the comments box. You will then automatically be entered into the draw. If you wish to buy more than one entry, then please increase your donation by multiples of 10. All names will be put into a hat, and John Mobbs of Great British Wine will draw the winners on the evening of Saturday, 3rd April. [/p][p]Please make sure you tick the box stating "please also share my name and email address with the fundraiser I am sponsoring" so that we can contact you if you win.[/p][p]The cut-off time for entering the raffle will be Midday on Saturday, 3rd April. [/p][p]Prizes will updated on this page and also via https://www.greatbritishwine.com/bewe[/p][p][br][/p][p]PRIZES DONATED SO FAR[/p][p]A take away with English wines for 4 people (Covid aware) delivered anywhere in the UK together with Riedel Glassware (total value £380.00) – Roger Jones of Little Bedwyn[/p][p][br][/p][p]A 6-bottle case of Black Chalk wine comprising: Classic 2015 & 2016 and Wild Rose 2016 & 2017, along with two wines yet to be released: Classic 2017 & Wild Rose 2018 - Black Chalk Wine [/p][p][br][/p][p]Mixed Case of 6 Wines from Chapel Down, Gusbourne, Simpsons Wine Estate, Squerryes, Biddenden and Balfour Hush Heath – Wine Garden of England[/p][p][br][/p][p]An elegant Nick Monro Trombone Wine Cooler (worth £100) and 2 bottles of Poulton Hill Rosé – Nick Munro & Poulton Hill Estate[/p][p][br][/p][p]4 x tickets for Tipple Talk May Wine Club on Thursday 6th May (worth £100) – Katrina Smith/Tipple Talk[/p][p][br][/p][p]Balfour Nouveau Jeroboam & Signed Taco Cat Shirt – Fergus Elias, Hush Heath[/p][p][br][/p][p]4 x Bottles John’s Mystery English Wine Selection – John Mobbs/Great British Wine[/p][p][br][/p][p]A Magnum of Coolhurst Lady Elizabeth Rosé 2014 – Coolhurst Vineyards[/p][p][br][/p][p]2 Bottles of Busi Jacobsohn Brut 2018 – Busi-Jacobsohn[/p][p][br][/p][p]A Bottle Each of All Angels Classic Cuvée 2014 and Sparkling Rosé 2014 – All Angels[/p][p][br][/p][p]Vineyard Tour for 2 – Gusbourne[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Gravel Castle Chardonnay 2020 and a Tasting Experience for Two – Simpsons Wine Estate[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Albury Silent Pool Rosé 2019 and a Tour for Two – Albury Organic Vineyard[/p][p][br][/p][p]‘Mini Vertical’ of Dalwood Still White Wine – a bottle each of 2018 and 2019 vintage as well as a Tour for Four – Dalwood Wine Estate[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Huxbear Classic Sparkling 2017 and a Tour for Two – Huxbear Vineyard[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Sugrue South Downs Cuvée Boz Blanc de Blancs 2015 – Sugrue South Downs[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Mystery Limited Edition Wine – Lyme Bay[/p][p][br][/p][p]2 x Bottles of Danebury Reserve 2018 – Danebury Vineyard[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Nutty Vintage Brut & a Tour for Two – Nutbourne Vineyards[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Albury Estate Classic Cuvee and Fairmile Vineyard Rosé – The Good Wine Shop[/p][p][br][/p][p]Bottle of Ridgeview Oak Reserve – Ridgeview Wine Estate[/p][p][br][/p][p]Duo of Bottles: Bacchus 2018 and Pinot Gris 2018 – Stopham Vineyard[/p][p][br][/p][p]Tour Voucher for 2 to the winner’s choice of featured vineyard on the website – Wine Cellar Door[/p][p][br][/p][p]Tour for Four plus a Packs of Three Wines – Amber Valley Vineyard[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p]About The Drinks Trust[/p][p]The Drinks Trust is the drinks industry community organisation. Since 1886, The Drinks Trust (formerly The Benevolent) has provided care and support to the people who form the drinks industry workforce, both past and present. Today, we provide vocational, practical, emotional and financial support to those who are currently working, or have worked, in the UK drinks industry. [/p][p]In 2020, The Drinks Trust provided support to nearly 5,000 beneficiaries through both wellness services and financial aid, delivering over £1.2 million of support, compared to just over £500,000 spent in regular years. [/p][p] [/p][p]About Hospitality Action[/p][p]When the first national lockdown began in March 2020, Hospitality Action helped many thousands of hospitality households in financial crisis. Just as in March, today millions of hospitality workers can’t go to work, and many thousands have lost their jobs for good. Since the outbreak of the pandemic Hospitality Action has worked tirelessly to help as many people as possible by providing emergency grants to keep food on the table, to assisting vulnerable industry retirees access local support, and by providing mental health resources for those who have struggled during the crisis.[/p][p] [/p][p]Please show your support by getting involved with #BigEnglishWineEaster.
