Team story

[lt]p class="Body"[gt][lt]span lang="EN-US"[gt]For those that know us, you may feel that the particular aerodynamic qualities of our bodies may not obviously lend themselves to long distance running.  You may, of course, be right.  We’re resigned to the fact that we might have a bit more, ahem,  wind resistance than Mo and Usain have to contend with, and appreciate that the traditional Gold medalist is often less challenged in the leg department.   Never mind all that.  It just means that when we say we are taking on the challenge of running a 10Km race, it will indeed be just that. [lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p class="Body"[gt][lt]span lang="EN-US"[gt]After all, it’s not as if we’re any stranger to exercise.  Steve used to go jogging before but had to stop as the ice cubes kept falling out of his glass.  Andy took the sport more seriously and managed to get a respectable number of Marathons under his belt.  By the time they changed the name to Snickers, his belt was on the last notch so he had to retire gracefully.[lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p class="Body"[gt][lt]span lang="EN-US"[gt]Anyway, we’re back in the game and training so far has been going well.  At least it has since we realized we didn’t have to stop every 20 metres to listen for a bleep. We’re taking this thing seriously.  [lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p class="Body"[gt][lt]span lang="EN-US"[gt]Apparently Police Federation reps are already taking bets on who will be first across the line.  We let that one slide, but the person who has opened a book on whether we will be overtaken by a granny dressed in a chicken suit is just plain wrong.  WE have it on good authority that she hasn’t entered this year.[lt]/span[gt][/p] [lt]p class="Body"[gt][lt]span lang="EN-US"[gt]Enough, enough.  We are taking to the streets to notch up the miles for a cause close to our hearts, and hope that you, the wider Police family and the public will come together and dig deep to support such an important cha[lt]/span[gt]rity.[/p] [lt]p class="Body"[gt][lt]span lang="EN-US"[gt]National Police Memorial Day is a charity which enables a fitting event each year at the end of September when we remember those officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the course of their duties. It relies entirely on donations and has HRH Prince Charles as its patron. Many family members of those that have died attend to reflect and remember their loved ones, and the whole day is recognised nationally as a day of remembrance.[lt]/span[gt][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
