My story

[p]British Malayali Charity Foundation has issued this appeal to assist the victims and affected people of natural disasters such as landslides and floods which struck as a result of torrential rains in the northern parts of Kerala, India. Over 100 people dead and many are missing in the large scale worst landslide which displaced whole villages washing out over 20 hectares of land with over five hundred thousand tonnes of soil, most of it at one go. The state of Kerala, according to the date received 387 percent excess rainfall between August 8 and 14. The two worst affected districts of Wyanadu & Malappuram received 407 and 500 excess rainfall for the same duration respectively. Over 64 landslides occurred in the whole state of Kerala during this period. People have lost everything including their houses and trees uprooted while acres of land swept away and many people feared to be still trapped underneath the soil. British Malayali Charity Foundation has decided to extend the assistance directly into the affected area through a reliable voluntary organization. The foundation issued the appeal in this festival season of Onam to support the disaster-affected families and will not be supporting the individual families in Kerala as has been done during this season.[/p][p]Please make sure you give consent to reclaim the gift aid if you are a UK taxpayer so that every One pound (£1) you donate will be enhanced to another £0.25 through re-claiming Gift aid from HMRC.[/p]
