My story

[p]Having applied unsuccessfully for the London Marathon for a number of years, I finally got a place in the ballot to run on 28th April 2019. [/p][p]I have wanted to run the London Marathon for many years now - not just to try and get in shape and for the experience on the day, but also as an opportunity to raise money for charity and give something back.[/p][p]Having lost two grandmothers in the family to Bowel Cancer in the last couple of years, I have seen the devastating impact that the disease can have.[/p][p]Bowel Cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the UK. Around 42,000 people are diagnosed with bowel cancer every year in the UK; 1 in 14 men and 1 in 19 women will be diagnosed with bowel cancer during their lifetime.[/p][p]But the number of people dying of bowel cancer has been falling since the 1970s, in part due to earlier diagnosis and better treatment. Bowel Cancer UK provide information and support to patients and families, as well as campaigning for early diagnosis and funding research into the disease.[/p][p]Your donation will help train healthcare professionals to spread awareness of this disease, and campaign against the inequalities of access to medications in the UK. Bowel Cancer UK also helps support those affected by bowel cancer, as well as funding research projects into the diagnosis and treatment of bowel cancer.[/p]

Best of luck Chris. Remember that it would probably be considered bad manners to overtake Mo Farah!
