[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page and considering sponsoring me to run the London Marathon on 22nd April 2018![/p][p]I started running in January 2017 as a way to lose the baby weight and get back in shape after having my second child. It was also a kind of therapy...me time. After initially hating it, I began to notice the difference both physically and mentally and I really enjoyed the head space. I managed a 5k, a 10k and then a 10 mile and the personal achievement felt good. So here I am...about to attempt 26.2 miles![/p][p]I decided to run for United Response. [/p][p]a) They took a chance on me... other charities didn't give me the time of day (I did choose three charities in all honesty because places are hard to get) so I now feel I really owe it to them because they have believed I can do this![/p][p]b) United Response are my chosen charity because I like that they are trying to make a difference to people's lives now. Historically, I have supported research based charities and Cancer Research will always remain a high priority for me but having donated to this charity before, I have since followed their blog and been touched by some of the stories. They support people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and physical disabilities. In my profession as a teacher, I meet people with all of the above and therefore I know the difference that the right support can make. I feel privileged to be part of something that could make even one small difference to one person.[/p][p]So please... dig as deep as you can however much that may be... getting around 26 miles is going to be tough but I will be all the more determined if I know I have reached my target![/p][p]February 12th 2018 update...[/p][p]I ran a half marathon yesterday! I am taking this seriously and training hard. It’s not easy... there have been tears out on those long training runs but I am determined to do this![/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
